The Heat of the Moment
textiles and other media on canvas
18 x 18"
This piece had an unusual beginning. I had a dish brush with plastic bristles, which I put in the dishwasher one day with disastrous results. The heat cracked the plastic (hence the title) and V-shaped pink bristles were all over the inside of the dishwasher. They seemed too good to pass up, so I started sewing them randomly on a stretched canvas. Eventually, of course, the lure of adding paint and other material was more than I could resist, although I can imagine another piece made up entirely of bristles.
